UK teens are three times more likely to use Facebook to contact friends and family, we use the social networking site at least 3.2 times a week, this seems small because i go on my Facebook everyday and i’m sure you do to, but people aged 25 to 34 contact their friends and family via phone calls Talk Talk said.
The survey showed that more then a fifth of people use Facebook to contact their friends and family and they do it “regularly”
Even in business employees and clients use their smartphones, email, text messages and social networks more frequently to communicate then via the phone.
The Look Who’s Talking team interviewed 2,000 people around the UK and proposed a few questions to find out how technology has changed the way we all communicate.
Below are what they found…
The majority of people regularly use mobile phones to make calls to friends and family followed by text messages and then landline calls
Facebook winner: A graph showing how often people use each mode of communication per week
As for the chicks (females) they pick up the phone and call way more then the dudes and are twice as likely to call their mum every day, on the other hand but on the same page girls are more likely to text their sister or female friend than a brother or a male friend.
So in conclusion 18 to 24 year olds say they use Facebook and holler their best friend every hour, and 25 to 34 year olds most frequently use the phone to contact their friends and family.
Mark Schmid, from TalkTalk said ‘In an age where the rise of social media as a way for people to contact each other is frequently discussed, it’s good to see that verbal communication is still important’ and that ‘In fact, as our research shows, calling from a mobile remains the main way for them to stay in touch with loved ones.’
In my opinion it seems that the young tend to like to connect with there friends and family through social networks because its easier to use and we don’t always want to talk on the phone where as the older population communicate via phone more because they are more loving.
Once again I am proving We are Addicted to Social networks and Smartphones
