Are we addicted to the internet?
It seems like everywhere i go i see people on their iphones and blackberries on social networks i cant walk down the road, into the corner shop or restaurant without seeing people on there smart phones babbling away.
Its a fact that 60% of teens have smart phones and this number is increasing day by day when its time to get your phones upgraded who will you give your current smartphone to, will you put it in a box and let it R.I.P or will you give it to the person next in line i.e. your younger sibling/son or daughter its become apparent that kids from the age of 5 now own phones which have been trickled down, take my little brother for example he is nine and owns a phone and an iPod Touch.
I came across a recent study that people are so addicted to smart phones that 80% of people are now using phones in places where 2 years ago it would seem almost inhuman to do so, for example we now all use our phone when we are on the toilet doing our business, when we are in the bath and sometimes even in the shower I for one stick my head out the shower just to see who messaged me when I get that ping, i have even seen an article that a man was on Facebook when his wife was giving birth.
It’s so clear that the social world has a big influence on our communications with each other, i mean now when i want to holler a friend i don’t call i most likely leave them a message on Facebook or Twitter.
With smart phones getting cheaper as the years go by its looking like having access to social networks will become a human right, there are already plans to make the internet a human right why not social networks to?
200+ Million use Facebook per day and Twitter gets 190+ million tweets per day, Not to mention Youtube’s 490 million users and Myspace’s 50 Million users. do the math
Thats ALLOT of people
Seems funny when you think about it, i’m sitting in Starbucks having a frappuccino as i’m writing this post and have been here for about 30 minutes and every single person who walked in this shop has either checked their phone or is using it.
Who knows maybe in 10 years time humans will cease to exist because people will be to busy online, the internet has already taken away our shopping life what with online shopping I don’t ever buy things physically it seems like soon we will all have “cyber relationships”
I think i can clearly say we are addicted to social networks.

Its truly overwhelming and I am so thankful for all the support I have had over the years. One day If I find a way to fight spam the comments will be back until then drop a line on my comment box :)
